Let’s Talk About Outsourcing…
Outsourcing can be a great way to lessen the burden of running a business, whether its as a sole proprietor or as a founder with a bustling team. The first go-to for many small businesses is to outsource their accounting and legal needs, as you’re not going to have either position on staff. But there are many, many other positions that you can outsource as well - including what this very business offers!
Why outsource at all? There are three main reasons: 1- because you can bring someone in that has a greater knowledge or expertise than you have - and that has value; 2- because it will give you more time to do the work that only you can do; 3- because there are tasks that are less consequential to the business that make sense for you to hand-off to free your time up for high value tasks.
Why would you choose to outsource roles rather than hire? One benefit is that you’re paying for the professional services & experience, not the employees and benefits that they require. Oftentimes, the work that’s needed isn’t always enough to sustain a full or even a part-time position.
It can be a big leap - to decide to hand off pieces of the work load, control, or to start paying for services. But, the realization that there aren’t enough hours in a day usually hits once the business hits a certain degree of growth, and that threshold is different for everyone. Its important to remember that when you choose the right partnership and embrace the change that you’re ready for, your business will thrive.
Creatives - whether artists, designers or anything in between, generally need the headspace and freedom to let their imaginations roam and allow for the creative projects to come to life. When you relieve yourself from the tasks that are nagging, and give yourself a little more breathing room, you will likely find that your creative projects reach new levels.
